Swine Flu Update |
 |
Dear Parents,
Here at Asbury UMC we take the H1N1 (swine) flu seriously. Please know your children's health is of the utmost priority. After due deliberation, the board of the Asbury Creative Learning Center will continue to offer:
- Half Day Preschool
- Full Time Preschool
- Latch Key Camp for $25 per child per day from 9 am - 5:45 pm
We will monitor the H1N1 situation and make informed decisions on an hourly basis.
If your child has a fever or other symptoms of illness or if anyone in your household is ill please do not bring your children to school.
To help give you peace of mind, these are our sanitation procedures:
-
We would like to ask you to please wash your child's hands upon arrival to their classroom.
-
We will ensure that our teachers are washing their hands prior to entering into their classrooms.
-
We will ensure that the children and teachers are washing their hands after using the restroom and upon return to their classroom from playing outside.
-
We will ensure that the children and teachers wash their hands prior to and after every meal or snack.
-
We will ensure that the children and teachers are washing their hands after any contact with bodily fluid, including blowing noses.
-
Our teachers will immediately remove toys to be sanitized that a child has placed in their mouth.
-
Our teachers are sanitizing hard surfaces (table tops) throughout the day.
-
Our classrooms, and toys are disinfected/ sanitized nightly.
In the event that a child in our care shows symptoms of the H1N1 (Swine) Flu, the child will be removed from his/her classroom while they wait to be picked up. If your child misses school because of illness, he/she will need a doctor’s permit to return to school. At this point we have not had any children displaying any flu symptoms. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this may cause you; however, we feel it is necessary in our efforts to maintain a healthy environment for the other children. In the event your child has flu symptoms please let us know.
If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to call the center at 991-6263 or 549-3955.

At Asbury Creative Learning Center, learning happens in everyday experiences. Classrooms are full of opportunities and interesting materials. Learning centers, meaningful experiences, and quality hands-on activities engage children in learning literacy/language skills, math skills, science skills, social skills, physical skills, cognitive skills, and communication skills.
Our program is designed for each child to learn all the necessary skills and understandings to succeed academically and socially now, in Kindergarten, and beyond.
Our curriculum empowers children to become confident, successful, lifelong learners by creating developmentally appropriate environments in which each child learns what the world is like, how it works, and what he or she is capable of achieving.
Children have the opportunity to explore language and literacy in print rich environments. They explore math and science through environments rich in numbers, magnets, hands on discoveries, and building/construction. Creativity develops through interaction with a variety of art media. Cooperation and problem solving occurs as children interact with others in learning centers.
In addition to learning through play, children have the opportunity to play just for play's sake. This helps them to relax and enjoy learning and the world around them.
