What we Believe
The United Methodist Church

We believe in God Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. We believe in Jesus Christ, equally God; yet He became a man to restore humanity’s broken relationship with God because of sin. Jesus lived a perfect life, was crucified, dead, and buried, and rose from the dead on the third day.

John 3:16-17 speaks to the restorative nature of God’s work in Christ Jesus. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

We believe in the Holy Spirit. The Spirit always works in the world for God’s glory and our good. He draws people to Jesus Christ.

We believe the Bible informs our faith and contains all things necessary for salvation and for living as faithful followers of Jesus Christ. We believe God’s grace and forgiveness extends to all who call out to Him in faith. We believe in the unity of believers all over the world.

As United Methodists, we believe that faith is never isolated from action.  We seek and promote both personal and social holiness. We trust God’s grace and the Holy Spirit’s power to make us more like Jesus on a personal level. That same grace and power promotes in us the desire to bring justice and mercy to the world around us. The mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
